Surjani Town: Mother and three children killed in Karachi home

A woman and her three children were killed in their home in the Surjani Town area of Karachi. The victims have been identified as 34-year-old Mahwish and her children: six-year-old Hira, five-year-old Hunain, and 18-month-old Ashmira.

Police report that the victims appear to have been attacked with a blunt object or stick, causing severe head injuries and extensive damage to brain tissue. While three victims were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, the infant, Ashmira, later died while receiving treatment at the National Institute of Child Health.

An eight-member investigation team has been formed to probe the deaths. Investigators noted that the victim’s mobile phone is missing from the scene and that there were no obvious signs of forced entry through windows or doors. Police are also investigating whether the victims were incapacitated with intoxicating substances prior to the attack, pending chemical examination results.

Mahwish’s husband, Danish, has been taken into custody for questioning. He informed police that he discovered the bodies after arriving at the house with a key when no one answered his calls. Family members have expressed shock, stating there were no known disputes or enmities involving the family.
