Karachi police investigate DHA apartment assault and misconduct allegations

An investigation has been launched in Karachi following a violent dispute at an apartment in the DHA Phase VI area on Khayaban-e-Bukhari. CCTV footage from the incident shows a woman, identified as Maryam Ali Raza, allegedly attacking a neighbor, Noorul Ain, with a dumbbell. The footage also depicts a man in plain clothes damaging a security camera.

The incident has sparked controversy regarding potential police influence. Following the confrontation, two siblings were arrested and booked for theft at the Darakshan police station. However, investigators noted that the CCTV footage does not support the initial allegations of snatching or theft, leading to the removal of those specific charges from the case.

Deputy Inspector General South Asad Raza has formed an investigation team, led by the SSP Investigation South, to determine the facts and assess whether any police officials acted improperly. Residents have raised concerns that the accused may have used connections to influence the legal proceedings.
