Karachi suspect arrested for sexual assault and murder of 18‑month‑old infant

In the Qayyumabad area of Karachi, a 1‑year‑8‑month‑old girl, Ezel Ali, died after being sexually assaulted. Her father, Rana Ali, said the accused, a close relative named Manan (son of Ashiq Hussain), regularly visited the family and on the night of the attack took the child away, allegedly to obtain a treat. The child was taken to a hospital but died en route to Jinnah Hospital.

Manan, a resident of Qayyumabad who works at a local factory, was arrested by Sindh police and handed over to authorities. The victim’s family and local residents have demanded the death penalty for Manan and for any accomplices, appealing to the provincial chief minister and the IG of Sindh. The case has been registered in the Defence Police Station under the father’s name, and a post‑mortem is pending to confirm the cause of death and the extent of the assault.
