Karadeniz University Foundation initiates legal action over construction accident claims

The Karadeniz University Strengthening Foundation has launched legal proceedings following disputes regarding an accident on the Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) campus. The foundation claims that reports suggesting a student was injured by falling stones at the site of the ongoing Patient Relative Guesthouse construction are a distortion of the facts.

According to the foundation, the accident actually occurred during wastewater line connection work for the new Faculty of Dentistry building, rather than at the guesthouse construction site managed by Ata Petrol. The foundation noted that while the guesthouse project was undergoing formwork, it was not involved in excavation work at the time of the incident. They have called for a full investigation to identify any negligence and ensure accountability.

The foundation also emphasized that the guesthouse project is a service-oriented initiative designed to provide accommodation for families of patients, rather than a commercial venture like a hotel or shopping center. The project is being funded through a protocol where Ata Petrol covers 51 percent of the construction costs.
