Karafyllia Karampeti stars in revived Medea at Thessaloniki's Theatre of the Forest

Renowned Greek actress Karafyllia Karampeti returns to the iconic role of Medea 29 years after her celebrated 1997 performance. The summer production, directed by international filmmaker Nikita Milivojevic, stays faithful to Euripides' text while highlighting contemporary resonances of love, betrayal and exile.

The play runs at the open‑air Theatre of the Forest in Thessaloniki on July 30 and 31, with a subsequent performance at the New Mudanya Open Theatre in Chalkidiki on August 1. The cast of twelve actors, supported by live musicians led by Dimitris Kamaratos, presents a high‑production staging that blends classical dramaturgy with modern visual and musical elements.
