Karagöz Art Exhibition Opens in Büyükçekmece, Istanbul

The "Karagöz Sanatımız" exhibition opened at the Büyükçekmece Atatürk Cultural Center as part of the 27th International Istanbul Büyükçekmece Culture and Art Festival. The show is a joint effort of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and the Büyükçekmece Municipality.

Curated by Cengiz Özek, founder and president of the Istanbul Karagöz Puppet Foundation, the exhibition presents a wide range of transparent puppets illuminated from behind. Visitors can explore the traditional characters Karagöz, Hacivat, Zenne and Çelebi, as well as many lesser‑known figures, learning about the puppeteering technique, instruments used, and recent works by the artist.

The exhibition is scheduled to remain open to the public until 2 August.
