Karahantepe archaeological site promoted via amateur radio

Members of the Radio Amateur Association of Turkey (TRAC) organized a three-day event at the Karahantepe archaeological site in Şanlıurfa to promote the Neolithic center to an international audience.

Using the specially assigned call sign ‘TC8KHT’, amateur radio operators established connections with approximately 1,000 stations across nearly 40 different countries. During these communications, operators shared information regarding the history of Karahantepe and directed interested parties to relevant websites for further details.

TRAC Vice President Hüdaverdi Güneş stated that the initiative, planned a year in advance, aimed to increase international awareness of Turkey’s historical values. TRAC Şanlıurfa Branch President İbrahim Halil Seysenbek also participated in the effort to highlight the site's significance.
