Karataş holds ceremony to mark start of fishing season

A ceremony was held at the port in the Karataş district of Adana to mark the start of the fishing season. Local officials, including Adana Governor Mustafa Yavuz, Adana Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Güngör Geçer, and Karataş Mayor Ali Bedrettin Karataş, joined fishermen to signal the commencement of the season with the traditional phrase ‘Vira Bismillah’.

During the event, Güngör Geçer emphasized the importance of fishing as a cultural heritage passed down through generations and noted the municipality's commitment to supporting the industry through supplies such as nets and ropes. He also highlighted ongoing infrastructure improvements in Karataş, including water treatment and drinking water facilities. The celebrations included folk dance performances and a concert by Derya Atalan at Atapark.
