Karatay Municipality hosts workshop on resilient city models

Karatay Municipality hosted the ‘Resilient Cities Implementation Model Development Workshop’ to address climate risks and local governance. Held as a side event for ‘COP31 Antalya 2026’, the workshop focused on integrating climate risk management into the decision-making and management processes of local authorities.

Emir Osmanoğlu, General Director of the Urban Research Institute, emphasized that combating climate change requires more than just reports and strategies; it necessitates concrete decisions by local governments. He noted that while existing knowledge on climate change is sufficient, the primary challenge lies in translating this information into actionable processes, such as zoning plans, infrastructure investments, irrigation preferences, and annual municipal investment programs.

The event included participation from Karatay Mayor Hasan Kılca, representatives from the Konya Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD), and academics from Konya Technical University.
