Konya municipalities launch major urban transformation and green space projects
Municipalities in Konya are executing large-scale urban transformation, expropriation, and green space projects. Konya Metropolitan Municipality President Uğur İbrahim Altay announced that investments in urban transformation and expropriation have reached 25.685 billion lira since 2018. This includes the Dar-ülmülk Project, which aims to preserve the city's historical identity while modernizing living spaces, covering areas from the Mevlana region to the Bedesten.
In the Karatay district, Mayor Hasan Kılca is overseeing the creation of 50,000 square meters of new green spaces and parks across various neighborhoods to improve local quality of life. Additionally, Karatay is undergoing urban renewal in areas such as the Mevlana vicinity and Akçeşme, with plans for a new city museum and boutique hotels.
In the Selçuklu district, Mayor Ahmet Pekyatırmacı is implementing new park projects in the Parsana and Beyhekim neighborhoods, providing sports and relaxation areas. Meanwhile, in Diyarbakır, construction is underway for Naturapark, a major ecological green space featuring biological ponds and accessible designs, with 55 percent of the project completed.
