Istanbul social housing project to begin rental deliveries in September
Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum announced that the first units of a new 15,000-unit social rental housing project in Istanbul will be delivered in September. The project, conducted in cooperation with TOKİ, aims to mitigate rising rental costs by offering units at least 50% below market rates. Specific eligibility criteria and application details are expected to be announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan next week following a Cabinet meeting.
Separately, various municipalities across Turkey are conducting infrastructure and energy projects. In Karatay, authorities are providing free combi boilers to 375 households transitioning from solid fuel to natural gas to improve air quality. Other regional updates include road and asphalt improvements in Göksun, Akçaabat, Adıyaman, Kahramanmaraş, and Erzincan, as well as new rainwater drainage systems in Bursa and natural gas expansion in Bayburt.
