Karatay Municipality uses aerial vehicles for pest control
Karatay Municipality has expanded its pest control operations by utilizing aerial vehicles equipped with specialized equipment. These efforts are specifically targeting uncultivated and undeveloped lands where pest density is high.
Following field investigations, samples were sent to the Ankara Zirai Mücadele Merkez Araştırma Enstitüsü for laboratory analysis. The institute identified 210 of the samples as the Nysius cymoides species, a type known to exist in Turkey. Local observations indicated that this species tends to transform into a winged form that moves toward lights in residential neighborhoods.
Mayor Hasan Kılca stated that the municipality is implementing a comprehensive model to prevent fly formation and manage pests in open and grassy areas. The municipality continues to conduct routine pest and insect control throughout the district alongside these aerial operations.
