Karlsruhe confirmed as host for 2029 World Games sports program
The International World Games Association (IWGA) has officially confirmed the sports program for the 2029 World Games, which will be held in Karlsruhe, Germany, from July 19 to 29. The event is expected to feature approximately 4,000 athletes from over 100 countries competing in 36 sports and 62 disciplines.
Key highlights of the program include the inclusion of para-karate for the first time in the history of the World Games, alongside traditional karate disciplines such as Kata and Kumite. Unihockey will also return for the fourth consecutive time, featuring both men’s and women’s competitions. Other confirmed sports include floorball, beach handball, breaking, and various disciplines in gymnastics, martial arts, and precision sports.
The 2029 edition marks the second time Karlsruhe will host the multisport event, having previously hosted in 1989. The program is noted for its diversity, including five para-disciplines and a wide range of activities from extreme sports like skydiving to precision sports like minigolf.
