Karawang and Bekasi prepare for 2026 village head elections

Local governments in West Java are advancing preparations for upcoming simultaneous village head elections (Pilkades) in 2026.

In Karawang Regency, the government has officially begun the preparatory stages for the 2026 Digital Pilkades. The process, which commenced on August 24, 2026, focuses on forming election committees and supporting personnel. This includes the formation of election committees by the existing Village Consultative Bodies (BPD), the appointment of voter data updating officers, and the selection of polling station working groups (KPPS).

In Bekasi Regency, authorities are preparing to hold candidate selection processes from September 1 to 3, 2026, at Universitas Muhammadiyah Indonesia Bekasi. This selection process applies to villages with more than five candidates. The evaluation consists of three components: a written exam covering government knowledge (50%), an interview regarding vision and mission (20%), and an administrative assessment (30%).
