Karawang companies launch circular economy waste management initiatives

Various initiatives in Karawang, Indonesia, are targeting waste management through circular economy models and community empowerment.

PT Peruri has launched the PERURI Asri 2026 program, which focuses on training housewives to transform household waste into products with economic value. The program aims to increase environmental awareness and provide practical skills for creative recycling, turning waste into a resource rather than mere refuse.

Simultaneously, PT Pindo Deli Pulp and Paper Mills Karawang has established a strategic partnership for circular economy waste management at the TPS3R Baraya Runtah facility. Supported by the Ministry of Environment and the Karawang Environmental Agency, the program utilizes Pindo Deli as an off-taker to absorb sorted cardboard and white paper. This collaboration seeks to provide economic certainty for waste collectors and create a model for integrating community-led sorting with industrial raw material needs.
