Karditsa begins reconstruction and expansion of bicycle path network
The municipality of Karditsa is currently undertaking extensive works to reconstruct and expand its bicycle path network. The existing infrastructure includes 7,300 meters of urban paths and 10,500 meters of suburban paths.
These projects aim to repair significant damage caused by the devastating floods of Storm Ianos, as well as general wear and tear over time. The reconstruction involves removing existing surfaces, such as cobblestones or gravel, and applying new layers to restore the network.
Mayor Vasilis Tsiakos stated that the bicycle and its dedicated paths are an inseparable part of the region's identity. The municipality has secured funding to complete these works, which are intended to promote sustainable mobility and strengthen the local cycling culture.
