Karditsa–Trikala road safety study faces one-year extension

The deadline for the contract to update the study for the Karditsa–Trikala road is facing a sixth consecutive one-year extension. Following a request from the contractor, the Regional Committee is expected to decide on the extension during its next session.

The study aims to improve road safety on an 8-kilometer stretch of the 25-kilometer axis, including the planning of four roundabouts. This project is part of the Thessaly Region's broader efforts to upgrade the road to meet traffic volume and speed requirements.

Specific components of the study include land registry updates, main artery and side road studies, roundabout designs, safety signage, hydraulic drainage, bridge deck drainage, lighting, and technical studies, as well as the modification of environmental terms. Portions of the upgrade, such as the Artesiano and Rizovounio bypasses, have already been completed.
