Kardzhali election sections face power outages

Four election sections in the Kardzhali region of Bulgaria, specifically in the villages of Most and Chereshitsa, experienced power outages due to a network failure during the first round of voting.

Venelina Milusheva, chair of the Kardzhali Regional Election Commission, stated that the voting process has not been interrupted. Voting machines in sections 97, 98, and 132 are currently operating on batteries, with each battery providing approximately 90 minutes of power and a second backup battery offering an additional hour.

Civil Protection teams are en route to deliver generators to the affected areas, while electricity distribution teams work to repair the grid. In the Kardzhali region, voter turnout for the first round was reported at 8.51 percent, with 23,378 people voting out of 275,772 registered voters.
