Kardzhali Mayor reports dozens of police violence allegations

Erol Mumyun, the Deputy Chairman of the DPS and Mayor of Kardzhali, has reported dozens of complaints regarding alleged police violence in the Kardzhali region. According to Mumyun, these reports have been increasing over recent months, with many citizens seeking assistance from party representatives.

Mumyun described the situation as crossing all boundaries and has called on the Ministry of Interior to provide explanations. The DPS parliamentary group has already demanded the resignation of the Director of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Kardzhali, Chief Commissioner Stery Milchev.

While Mumyun noted he is not in a position to judge the legality of specific detentions, he emphasized that the core of the complaints concerns physical violence against citizens. Some formal complaints have already been filed with competent institutions, and the party intends to make the remaining reports public and notify the relevant authorities.
