General Karel Řehka has officially retired from his position as the Chief of the General Staff of the Czech Army after a 37-year military career. His service included roles in special forces, foreign operations, and deployments in Kosovo and Afghanistan.

Following his retirement, Řehka has announced his intention to enter politics. He plans to run as a candidate for the Senate in the Plzeň region, specifically in Senate District No. 9. This race is expected to be one of the most closely watched in the upcoming Senate elections, as he will face incumbent Lumír Aschenbrenner.
