Karen Anderson relocates to France following international divorce

Karen Anderson, a 57-year-old Californian, has relocated to a small village in northwestern France following a divorce. After marrying an English man in 2011, Anderson split her time between the United Kingdom and France. In 2016, she and her husband purchased a home in France for €45,000 ($50,450), a significantly lower cost than property in the UK.

Following a period in the United States to undergo cancer treatment and work for Amazon, Anderson returned to Europe. Although her marriage was originally performed in California, her divorce had to be finalized under French law, a process that lasted three years. After finding it difficult to maintain a comfortable lifestyle in the US while working as a flight attendant for Frontier Airlines, she chose to remain in France, where her pension provides a more sustainable standard of living.
