Karen Khachatryan faces investigation in Marseille over tennis match manipulation

Former tennis player Karen Khachatryan is under investigation by French authorities in Marseille regarding allegations of tennis match manipulation, sports corruption, money laundering, and illegal betting. The investigation covers suspected fraudulent operations in lower-category matches occurring between 2018 and 2024.

Khachatryan, who was among four Bulgarians arrested in October 2025 under European arrest warrants, reportedly requested extradition to resolve his legal standing with the authorities. He has maintained his innocence, stating he is confident he can prove his integrity to the French prosecution.

His partner, Zlatka Raykova, has traveled to Marseille, though it remains unclear if they have reunited following a period of separation. While Khachatryan awaits the conclusion of the legal proceedings to potentially lift his travel restrictions and return to Bulgaria, Raykova has been active on social media and preparing for a role in the film ‘To Conquer Sofia’ alongside Ivayla Bakalova.
