Karen Luna suffers knee ligament injury

Club América defender Karen Luna has suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her right knee during a match against Pachuca. The injury occurred in the 88th minute of the Apertura 2026 tournament at Estadio Banorte.

Luna will undergo surgery in the coming days. Due to the nature of the injury and the fact that it is a recurrence of a previous serious injury sustained earlier this year, her recovery time is expected to be significant, potentially lasting between eight and twelve months. This injury will sideline her for the remainder of the Apertura 2026 season and likely the Clausura 2027 tournament.

This follows a previous long-term absence for the player, who had only recently returned to action after an 11-month recovery period.
