Karen Nyamu accused of being heckled at endometriosis awareness event

Senator Karen Nyamu was heckled by crowds during an endometriosis awareness event held at the KICC Comesa Grounds. Attendees interrupted her speech with political chants, specifically shouting “Wantam,” which drowned out her address regarding women's health legislation.

The event, organized by Natalie Githinji under the Endometriosis Warriors (N.E.W) initiative, was intended to highlight the health struggles of women and the need for better medical research and systemic healthcare improvements. Nyamu used the platform to mention her intention to move a motion on September 10 regarding endometriosis, noting the condition affects millions of women.

Following the incident, Nyamu accused comedian Eric Omondi and MC Antonio of orchestrating the disruption. She alleged that Omondi and Antonio coordinated the heckling to score political points and divert attention away from her presence. Nyamu expressed regret that a high-budget health advocacy event was overshadowed by partisan political chants.
