Karen Valverde ratified as substitute prosecutor for one year

The Corte Plena has unanimously ratified Deputy Prosecutor Karen Valverde as the substitute prosecutor for the Ministerio Público for an additional one-year term. This appointment ensures the continuity of the Fiscalía General’s operations, as Valverde will be responsible for substituting the Attorney General during temporary absences or in instances where the Attorney General must recuse themselves from a case due to legal inhibitions.

Valverde currently leads the Training and Supervision Unit of the Ministerio Público, focusing on staff development and service optimization. Following her swearing-in by Supreme Court President Orlando Aguirre, Valverde emphasized the importance of strengthening the institution against external pressures and maintaining its commitment to the rule of law and democracy.
