Jakarta transportation and utility updates for September 2026
Jakarta's public transportation and utility sectors are undergoing several changes as of September 1, 2026. KAI Commuter has officially closed Karet Station for boarding and disembarking until December 31, 2026, to facilitate integration with BNI City Station. Passengers are being diverted to BNI City, which has already seen a significant surge in passenger volume.
In transit pricing, the Transbandara bus service from Blok M to Soekarno-Hatta has transitioned from a trial phase to a formal rate of Rp15,000 per trip. Additionally, the Jakarta provincial government is preparing a trial rate of Rp8 for the LRT Jakarta Phase 1B (Velodrome–Manggarai) route.
Regarding utilities, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has confirmed that PLN electricity tariffs for the third quarter of 2026 will remain unchanged to maintain national economic stability and consumer purchasing power. Meanwhile, Statistics Indonesia (BPS) reported that rice prices, both medium and premium grades, saw increases across Indonesia during August 2026.
