Kari Jalonen criticizes Liiga training regulations
Kari Jalonen, the new head coach of Tappara, has expressed strong criticism regarding the training regulations within the Finnish Liiga. Upon returning to the league after a 15-year absence, Jalonen described the complex rules established by the collective agreement between the league and the Players' Association as a “utopia” of restrictions.
Specifically, Jalonen highlighted training bans that prevent teams from starting joint practices until August 3rd, which is only four weeks before the start of the regular season. He noted that such limitations on training are unusual compared to his recent coaching experiences in Germany, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic. Jalonen stated his intention to contact the Players' Association to better understand the basis for these regulations.
