Karim Coulibaly joins Strasbourg amid interest from European giants

German defender Karim Coulibaly has completed a transfer to Strasbourg from Werder Bremen. The 19-year-old signed a five-year contract through 2031 in a deal valued at approximately €20 million. The agreement includes a 10% sell-on clause for Werder Bremen.

Before the move, Coulibaly attracted significant interest from several elite European clubs following an impressive Bundesliga season in which he made 27 appearances. Reported suitors included Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Borussia Dortmund, and Sporting CP.

Due to Strasbourg being part of the BlueCo ownership group, which also owns Chelsea, there is potential for a future move to the English club. However, Strasbourg officials have expressed satisfaction with his progress and currently have no intention of selling the player.
