Karim López joins Memphis Grizzlies after historic first‑round NBA draft pick

Mexican forward Karim López was selected 21st overall in the 2024 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons and immediately traded to the Memphis Grizzlies. His selection marks the first time a player born in Mexico has been chosen in the first round of the NBA Draft. At 19, López has previously played in Spain and Australia before signing with the Grizzlies.
