Karim López set for NBA debut with Memphis Grizzlies

Mexican forward Karim López is prepared to make his NBA regular season debut this Wednesday at the FedExForum. The 19-year-old from Hermosillo, Sonora, will play for the Memphis Grizzlies in a matchup against the Utah Jazz.

López becomes only the fifth player born in Mexico to play officially in the NBA, joining Horacio Llamas, Eduardo Nájera, Gustavo Ayón, and Jorge Gutiérrez.

Reflecting on the milestone, López expressed pride in representing his country, stating, “It will always be an honor, it will never be a pressure to be able to represent my people and be there as someone they can see and support.” He noted that while the debut is a significant achievement, he views it as a starting point rather than a final goal, emphasizing his desire to continue evolving as a player.
