Karimnagar to undergo major infrastructure development, says Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar has announced extensive development plans for Karimnagar, aiming to transform the town through various Central government schemes. Key infrastructure projects include the construction of 50 km of model roads at a cost of ₹630 crore, the development of foot overbridges at the district court, civil hospital, and Geeta Bhavan, and the installation of a skywalk at the district headquarters bus stand.

In addition to roadwork, the plan includes new drains, junctions, and improved drainage pipelines. The minister noted that ₹840 crore has been sanctioned under the Urban Challenge Fund (UCF) following the town's inclusion in the scheme. Over the last seven years, approximately ₹22,000 crore has been spent on the development of the Karimnagar town and parliamentary constituency.

Addressing concerns regarding fund utilization, Kumar rejected allegations of underutilization of MPLADS funds. He reported that for the 18th Lok Sabha, ₹16.47 crore of the ₹17.50 crore allocated under MPLADS (94.1%) is currently at various stages of implementation. He clarified that 627 proposals, including community halls and borewells, have been forwarded to district collectors over the last three years.
