Karimun Regency launches vocational training and civil servant debt repayment plans

The Karimun Regency Government is implementing new initiatives to support local workforce development and resolve civil servant compensation issues.

Regent Iskandarsyah has partnered with the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower and the Medan Vocational Training and Productivity Center (BBVP Medan) to strengthen vocational training programs. These programs aim to provide certified skills in fields such as welding, electrical work, culinary arts, and barista training to increase local competitiveness and reduce poverty. The administration is exploring ways to relocate training budgets to Karimun to minimize transportation costs for local participants.

Additionally, the local government has announced a plan to settle five months of unpaid Additional Employee Income (TPP) owed to approximately 7,554 civil servants from 2024. Due to regulatory constraints, the arrears will be paid gradually starting in the 2027 budget year. The proposed scheme involves increasing the monthly TPP allocation by 13 to 14 percent over three years to accumulate and repay the debt, pending approval from the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform.
