Karina Ranau's Violence Case Moves to Investigation in Jakarta

The Jakarta South police unit Polsek Pancoran upgraded the case of Karina Ranau, widow of late actor Epy Kusnandar, from a preliminary inquiry to a formal investigation on 29 July 2026. Investigators have collected CCTV footage from the incident site and a medical report that confirms minor physical violence. Her lawyer, Hendro Widodo, said the findings meet the complainant’s expectations and asked the police to issue a formal notice to the prosecutorial office.

Karina Ranau told police she remains traumatized by the alleged assault. She described persistent fear of going outside, an inability to concentrate on daily tasks and the psychological toll on her child and family. She urged that the legal process be carried out fairly so she can obtain justice and rebuild her life.
