Karl-Anthony Towns propels Knicks to 2026 NBA Finals appearance

Karl-Anthony Towns, originally a Dominican fan of the New York Knicks, was traded from the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Knicks on Oct. 3, 2024. A photo of him wearing a 1999 Knicks‑Spurs Finals tee resurfaced and went viral ahead of the 2026 NBA Finals. After the Knicks swept the Cleveland Cavaliers to win the Eastern Conference, they reached the Finals for the first time since 1999, set to face the San Antonio Spurs. Game 1 of the series is slated for June 3, 2026 at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio. Towns and fellow center Mitchell Robinson are expected to anchor the Knicks' defense against Spurs star Victor Wembanyama.
