Karl Ravech concludes 33-year ESPN career following layoffs

Karl Ravech has concluded a 33-year career at ESPN following his departure as part of a broader series of layoffs at the network and its parent company, The Walt Disney Company. Ravech, a prominent figure in baseball coverage, completed his final broadcast during the Little League World Series championship game.

During the broadcast, colleagues provided an emotional send-off, including a presentation from Eduardo Pérez. Ravech expressed gratitude to his teammates and noted the significance of the Little League World Series to his career.

In recent reports, Ravech indicated he would have been open to discussing a reduced workload or salary to maintain his position, but stated that ESPN never initiated such a conversation. His departure was part of a wave of layoffs that included several other high-profile personalities such as Cam Newton, Ryan Clark, and Tom Pelissero. ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitarof attributed the staffing changes to the integration of the NFL Network into the company’s structure.
