Karl Schmitt releases updated SCL programming guide

The fifth edition of ‘SPS-Programmierung mit SCL im TIA-Portal’ by Karl Schmitt has been released. This updated technical manual provides a practical introduction to Structured Control Language (SCL) basics, structured PLC program design, and the reuse of program blocks.

Based on the IEC 61131-3 standard, the book is designed for creating clear and maintainable programs for complex automation tasks. The revised edition includes project templates for TIA Portal up to version V21 and covers applications for CPU 1500, CPU 1200, CPU 1200G2, and CPU 300.

A notable addition to this edition is the inclusion of AI-supported methods for program design, reflecting growing trends in software development. The book features exercises, self-tests, and solutions, supplemented by the InfoClick online service and a mobile app.
