Karl Stefanovic’s dog avoids euthanasia after attack

Karl Stefanovic and his wife, Jasmine, have reached an agreement with the North Sydney Council to prevent the euthanasia of their eight-year-old German shepherd, Chance the Yapper.

The dog was issued a dangerous dog declaration following an unprovoked attack on Military Road in Neutral Bay, Sydney, on April 18, which resulted in serious injury to a person and an attack on another dog. Jasmine Stefanovic had launched legal action against the council in August to contest the declaration.

Under the new four-year control order, the couple must muzzle and leash the dog during public walks and install a prominent warning sign at their Castlecrag home. Additionally, Chance must complete behavioral or socialization training with a qualified expert within six months. The dog is also prohibited from being left in the care of anyone under 18 and must be kept in a secure indoor enclosure to prevent escapes.
