Karla Maříková calls for stronger SPD presence in Czech politics

Karla Maříková, the Deputy Minister of Health and SPD representative, has called on members of the Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD) party to adopt a more assertive stance within the political landscape. Following recent electoral setbacks in Senate and municipal elections, Maříková emphasized that the party must better market its work and more forcefully advocate for its program.

During a televised discussion, Maříková noted that the party's recent losses, including a significant reduction in municipal councilors, serve as a signal from voters who expect more decisive action. She urged SPD deputies in the Chamber of Deputies to 'roll up their sleeves' to push for party priorities, such as changes to media financing and the abolition of concession fees.

Maříková also criticized the actions of the ANO movement and the Motorists, despite the parties' shared presence in the political sphere. She suggested that the party needs to move beyond mere protest and demonstrate how its political stances can be translated into practical results for citizens.
