Karlovac marks 447th anniversary with citywide celebrations

Karlovac, a historic city in Croatia founded on 13 July 1579 as a fortress to protect against Ottoman incursions, commemorated its 447th birthday on 13 July. The celebration highlighted the city’s Renaissance‑inspired star layout, its location at the confluence of four rivers, and its cultural heritage.

Community events turned the streets into gathering places where residents and visitors shared stories, music, and local traditions, reinforcing a sense of pride and belonging among the city's inhabitants.
