Karlovy Vary candidates target regional brain drain

Young political candidates in the Czech Republic are focusing on regional demographic decline and the migration of young people to larger cities. In Karlovy Vary, candidates are proposing strategies to retain residents, including attracting investors to economically weaker regions and expanding the municipal housing fund.

Tomáš Lehečka, a 24-year-old ODS candidate, emphasized the need for affordable rental and cooperative housing to encourage young people to start families in the region. He also suggested that the city should actively seek new employers to create qualified positions and leverage the completion of the D6 highway to improve connections with Prague and other major metropolitan areas.
