Karls Erlebnis-Dorf to Close and Demolish Pier 7 in Warnemünde
Karls Erlebnis-Dorf announced that its Pier 7 attraction in Warnemünde will close to visitors on 1 November 2026, with demolition scheduled to begin on 4 November 2026. The decision follows the company's assessment that the existing structure has become "brutally outdated" after years of postponed renovations. The site, which houses the popular Sandwelt exhibition, a restaurant, a playground and shops, will be cleared for a new, larger pier.
The new development, budgeted at €5.5 million, will feature two expansive roof terraces offering panoramic views of the Baltic Sea and the nearby cruise‑ship harbor, a significantly expanded gastronomy area with 116 indoor seats, 108 outdoor seats and 72 terrace seats, and modernised public facilities. Design elements will incorporate 300 reclaimed buoys and oak timber from the historic Neptun‑Werft. The lease for the location runs until 2041, with an optional extension to 2051.
