Karlsruhe finishes BBBank Wildpark stadium rebuild, starts major traffic overhaul

The city of Karlsruhe announced the completion of the full renovation of the BBBank Wildpark stadium, now offering around 34,000 seats. The project, overseen by Zech Sports GmbH and the municipal stadium operator, marks the final milestone of a multi‑year construction effort that began with a ground‑breaking ceremony in December 2019. Mayor Frank Mentrup highlighted the stadium’s importance for the city’s sporting culture.

Simultaneously, Karlsruhe has launched a 1.5‑year construction programme at the Kriegsstraße/Brauerstraße/Reinhold‑Frank‑Straße junction, slated for completion in late 2027. The works will replace roads, bike paths, railway tracks, overhead lines and utility networks. Construction mayor Daniel Fluhrer warned of unavoidable disruptions for residents and motorists, but emphasized the long‑term benefits of modernising the city’s core infrastructure.
