Karlsruhe court denies civil service role over Muslim Brotherhood ties

The Administrative Court of Karlsruhe has upheld a decision by the City of Karlsruhe to deny a civil service appointment to an employee at the local foreigners' registration office. The denial is based on concerns regarding the employee's loyalty to the German constitution.

According to findings from the Baden-Württemberg Office for the Protection of the Constitution, the employee's volunteer work as a teacher at the Annur Mosque, which is part of the Association for Dialogue and Understanding, indicates a proximity to the Muslim Brotherhood. The court noted that the mosque is integrated into the structures of the Muslim Brotherhood, an organization that seeks to establish an Islamist state and social order based on Sharia law.

The court ruled that the employee failed to demonstrate that she would consistently uphold the liberal democratic basic order required by Section 7 of the Civil Service Status Act. The ruling emphasized that the goals of the Muslim Brotherhood are fundamentally incompatible with the German constitution.
