Karlsruhe Institute of Technology to host Real:labor Festival 2026
The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) will host the Real:labor Festival from October 6 to 11, 2026. The event aims to bring research directly to the city center, primarily at the TRIANGEL and Kronenplatz locations.
The festival focuses on 'living laboratories' where researchers, citizens, businesses, and politicians collaborate to test technical and social solutions under everyday conditions. Topics include medicine, robotics, accessibility, climate protection, biodiversity, and circular economy.
Key programming includes a session on the role of AI and robotics in medicine, a 'Science & Games' evening featuring board games related to climate change and energy transition, and a networking event for citizen science. Additionally, a new research hub called 'KIT spark' will open at Kaiserstraße 24 to serve as a center for socially oriented research.
