Karlsruhe Schlosslichtspiele 2026 to honor architect Friedrich Weinbrenner

The Schlosslichtspiele (Castle Light Games) in Karlsruhe are set to feature the theme ‘Lightyard Stories: Visions of Urban Living Spaces’ for the 2026 season. The event will honor the architect Friedrich Weinbrenner on the 200th anniversary of his death, focusing on his classical architectural influence on the city.

The light shows will utilize the 170-meter facade of Karlsruhe Castle as a projection surface. Three winning artists from the BBBank Award in Projection Mapping will present their works: Henry Hu from Singapore with ‘MIRΔGE’, Studio Moebius X Three Oscillators from India with ‘RE:STRUCT’, and Metanoia from the Czech Republic.

Scheduled to run from August 13 to September 13, the shows will begin at dusk, with start times varying weekly between 20:15 and 21:15. The event aims to celebrate the architecture of the UNESCO City of Media Art and the local culture.
