Karlsruher SC coach Maximilian Senft tweaks defence and promotes Danyal Zor

New Karlsruher SC head coach Maximilian Senft has kept the starting lineup for the upcoming league match against Arminia Bielefeld under wraps, warning that no spot in the starting eleven is guaranteed. The competition for places has intensified as the team prepares for the 13:00 kickoff at the BBBank Wildpark on 8 August.

In a recent friendly against Inter Milan, 19‑year‑old midfielder Danyal Hakan Zor impressed with his speed and technical ability, overtaking rivals Kwon Hyeok‑kyu and Andreas Müller in the pecking order for the central defensive midfield role. Zor, a product of the Karlsruher youth system, has signed a contract running to 2028.

Senft also introduced a new defensive setup, replacing the usual three‑man back line with a flexible four‑man formation that can shift to a six‑man block when the opposition has possession. The regular back‑four consists of Sebastian Jung, Marcel Franke, Christoph Kobald and Deniz Ofli, with Rafael Pinto Pedrosa and Shio Fukuda providing additional coverage on the flanks. The change aims to compensate for a thin defensive roster and improve the team’s adaptability against strong opponents such as Inter Milan.
