Karlsruher SC draws with Shimizu S-Pulse after weather‑halted friendly
On 18 July 2026 the German side Karlsruher SC faced Japanese J‑League club Shimizu S‑Pulse in a double‑test friendly in Garmisch‑Partenkirchen. The first match ended in a 1‑3 defeat for Karlsruhe, with the Japanese taking the lead in the second half. In the second encounter the teams were level at 1‑1 when a severe weather warning forced the game to be abandoned after 65 minutes.
Karlsruhe’s goal in the first game came from a Japanese player on assist from Marvin Wanitzek, while the Japanese equaliser in the rematch was scored by Kengo Kitazume. Both matches were played in front of roughly 400 spectators.
