Karma Coachworks SR2 buggy sells for R$ 78,000
A rare Karma Coachworks SR2 buggy, built on a 1970 Volkswagen chassis, was sold on the Bring a Trailer auction site for approximately R$ 78,000 (US$ 15,500). The bidding concluded on Wednesday, October 21.
The SR2 is a derivative of the Meyers Manx, a fiberglass-bodied buggy created in the 1960s by Bruce Meyers. While the original Meyers company closed in 1971, Karma Coachworks of Westminster, California, began producing the SR2 to continue the legacy. The SR2 is an evolution of the Manx SR (Street Roadster), a version designed more for asphalt than sand.
This specific black model features a removable roof, side windows, a rear spoiler, and wide rear tires. It is powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder Volkswagen boxer engine producing approximately 70 hp, paired with a four-speed manual Hurst shifter.
