Karmelo Anthony, convicted of murder and sentenced to 35 years, has retained a new appellate team that includes Russell Wilson, Gary Bledsoe, Michael L. Ware, Brooke Cluse, Sean Daredia and Justin A. Moore. The attorneys say they will conduct an independent review of the trial record and pursue any possible legal errors on appeal.

A recently released police body‑camera video captures Anthony sobbing and saying, “He put his hands on me. I told him not to but he put his hands on me,” suggesting he was scared and remorseful rather than acting with intent to kill. The footage contradicts earlier portrayals of him as a cold‑blooded killer and will form part of the defense’s appeal strategy.
