DK Shivkumar Invited by Karnataka Governor to Form New Government

DK Shivkumar was elected as the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader in Karnataka during a CLP meeting in Bengaluru on May 30. Following the resignation of former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the dissolution of his cabinet, Shivkumar met Governor Thawar Chand Ghelot to submit a list of supporting legislators and formally requested the right to form a government.

The Governor has issued an official invitation to Shivkumar to constitute the new ministry. An oath‑taking ceremony is scheduled for June 3 at the Raj Bhavan, where Shivkumar is expected to be sworn in as Chief Minister. Senior Congress figures and leaders from neighboring states have been invited to attend. Concurrently, intense competition among senior and junior MLAs for cabinet positions is reported as the new government preparation progresses.
